Bio
Andrew Chiu is an award-winning writer, director & producer who was shortlisted for the 2016 Sundance Asian American Fellowship. He has directed projects for brands like Durex, Olay, BNN, and the Canadian Red Cross.
His first short Romantic Rouse has screened internationally and won the Audience Award for Best Short Comedy at the 25th Woods Hole Film Festival, as well as Best Of award at Sandpoint Film Fest.
Andrew’s work for Durex received over 3 million organic views and was awarded Editor’s Choice from LBB Online. He produced & directed a PSA for the Canadian Red Cross that received nominations by Shots, the Webbys, the Shorty Awards, and shortlisted by Communication Arts. It received a Bronze award by Creative Pool for Best Digital Advertising.
Andrew was selected as a writer/director for Talent Labs at the Reykjavik International Film Festival and Doc Circuit Montreal.
His second short film Breath Anew was commissioned by Cinema Politica, with funding from Canada Council For The Arts. It premiered at Cinematheque Quebecoise and has screened theatrically across Canada.
Andrew produced Elvis Deane’s short film The Thought of You which premiered at the 2019 Blood In The Snow Film Festival.
He was a director-observer on Netflix’s Locke and Key for director Vincenzo Natali’s episodes.
Andrew’s feature film The Scars That Bind was selected by the Reel Asian International Film Festival for their First Features program.
