Bio
I grew up in Singapore, graduated with a diploma in film in 2012, and was promptly conscripted into full-time mandatory military service for 2 years. During that period I dipped into camera assisting for a little but decided I’d rather hide in a dark room and edit things.
During the final month of my time there, I secured a full-time job as Junior Editor at The Moving Visuals. After a year, I was promoted to Editor. I worked on lifestyle, reality, documentary, tv spots, webisodes, and other non-fiction material in the broadcast TV world. Three years after that, I grew dissatisfied with the state of the industry in Singapore. So I quit my job and began applying to colleges in Canada. I did freelance editing for a year before I moved to Oakville in September 2019 to begin my 4-year film program at Sheridan College. The intention is get a full time work permit here.
My college application film, Overthinking It, recently won Judge’s Choice at FilmOneFest, a festival in New Jersey.
Intro
As an editor, I’ve worked in Avid and Premiere for a long time. I like editing long form non-fiction, especially documentary (though I’m quite interested in doing fiction). I cut my teeth in Singapore doing most of my own colour correction, assisting work, online editing, and sometimes audio post. I’ve delivered projects to broadcasters including National Geographic, History Channel, ASTRO, and Mediacorp.
I’m comfortable working remotely.
I’m currently experimenting with writing and directing my own short films during my time at Sheridan’s film program.
