Daniel J. Bowen is a composer, arranger, pianist and activist. As a composer, he has released two EP’s including, Blood Moon, an emotive, cinematic soundscape of orchestral and electronic textures, inspired by a dream foreshadowing tough times for humanity. His score to award winning director Ryan Oligmueller’s Tristo was featured at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Daniel composed the musical Anthem for the National Hockey League’s 2022 Stanley Cup Finals Opener and most recently scored an American Experience documentary, Zora Neale Hurston: Claiming A Space, which aired in January 2023 and is currently streaming on PBS.

As an arranger, he has composed orchestral arrangements for Grammy winning and Emmy nominated producers, including Adam Blackstone and Dana Sorey. Daniel’s arrangements have been featured on national television broadcasts including projects for the NBA, NHL, TNT, ESPN and Bravo.

As an activist, Daniel founded and launched Symphony 21, an arts collective that inspires youth and unites the community through the power of music. Within two years, Symphony 21’s initiatives reached and inspired over 5,000 students, providing arts programming for twelve schools, and free multi-media concerts, exposing youth to modern approaches to music, technology and visual arts. His success with Symphony 21 gained the attention of The Kennedy Center, where he was invited to perform and lecture during the The REACH Opening Festival, presented by the National Symphony Orchestra. In 2019, the NAACP awarded Daniel their Community Service Award, for Symphony 21’s impact on youth in the region.
