Bio
In addition to composing for media and orchestra, he is an accomplished songwriter, releasing his orchestral debut album -Minstrelle- in Canada, in collaboration with a collection of international soloists. He also conducted for the Canadian duo Whitehorse in their Winter 2018 Christmas album, which was nominated for a Juno Award in 2019. His orchestration work is featured in the documentary My Enemy My Brother and Backstabbing for Beginners, both composed by two-time CSA winner, Todor Kobakov. Both of these soundtracks were recorded in collaboration with the Prague Symphony and Smecky Music Studios, in the Czech Republic. He has also served as orchestrator for composer Brian D’Oliveira of La Hacienda Creative Studios in Montreal, having orchestrated a suite for the Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s live concert performance.
Felipe holds a master’s degree in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games from Berklee College of Music (Spain) as well as a bachelor’s degree in Composition and Music Production from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. He has studied composition under the tutelage of Christos Hatzis, Alexander Rapoport, Lucio Godoy, and has studied orchestral conducting with Uri Mayer and Constantino Martínez Orts. Felipe is currently a DMA Candidate, expecting to receive his Doctorate in Musical Arts in Music Composition from the University of Toronto in 2020. Furthermore, he continues to be involved in music education, holding teaching positions at Sheridan College and the University of Toronto.
