Bio

I first became interested in writing for film when I started taking improv classes in NYC. I hate improv, but through it, I discovered sketch comedy writing. I’ve been a sketch comedy writer for close to seven years now; though I’ve never been paid to write comedy (in fact, I pay to have my sketches performed), I love the four-page, three-beat format. I’ve been a writer/performer at the Magnet Theater since 2016. I didn’t realize that my hustle and job should both coincide, until three years ago. So, I left my steady ad agency job and was unemployed for five months. I figured that if I wanted to be a TV writer, I should be working in film. During those five months, I volunteered to PA on friends’ comedy shoots and any shoot that would have me. I’m currently a PA and have worked on several shows, but I’m working towards becoming a writer. I have a pilot and a spec under my belt, with a second pilot in the works. Below are some of the shows I worked on as a PA.

-When They See Us

-The Many Saints of Newark

-The Iliza Schlesinger Sketch Show

-The Other Two

I’ve been a Script Supervisor on the short, “White Flags,” with Shaunette Renée Wilson and Sean Patrick Higgins.

I’ve also written 2 out of 8 sketches for a filmed sketch comedy show about mental health called, “I Feel Funny.”

Intro

I’m here because I’m a female POC who’s been lucky enough to work in film, but has struggled with trying to land in the writers’ room. I’m a writer, with one finished pilot (and bible) and a spec script under her belt. I’ve been a P.A. for a little over two years now, and my experience has inspired me to create a pilot called “P.A.ing Your Dues,” which is precisely what it sounds like. It’s about three P.A.’s working on a GOT-type show, who experience the roller coaster ride of being a grunt in an industry that’s motto is “you gotta pay your dues.” The idea behind this show is to comedically reveal what it’s like working behind the scenes in film, from the perspective of the P.A.’s.

I’ve also finished a spec of “Awkwafina is Nora From Queens,” because I’m from Queens, and I thoroughly enjoy the show.
