Bio

Gunjan Menon is a wildlife filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer from India. She has written, directed, edited, and shot for a broad range of hybrid-genre conservation films broadcast on Nat Geo Wild, Disney+ Hotstar, Youtube Originals, and Discovery, among others. Her work has garnered over 40 awards and nominations across 20 countries. She is a TEDx speaker and vocally advocates intersectional climate justice. Gunjan is also a storytelling mentor to emerging BIPOC filmmakers and scientists, leading workshops on conservation filmmaking and science storytelling. She received the Jackson Wild Rising Star Award in 2020 for her extended impact in the field. She is obsessed with red pandas, but when she’s not filming in some remote jungle, she fosters orphaned bats in her backyard. Currently based in British Columbia, Gunjan is the co-founder of Beyond Premieres, an organisation that helps emerging filmmakers harness the power of storytelling to create a wave of change.
