Intro
Insiya Foda is a Canadian composer, arranger/orchestrator and artist. Much of her compositional influence stems from being classically trained on the violin. Her portfolio includes works written in a range of different musical genres; orchestral, percussive/synthetic, & hybrids of sounds that blend and cross through musical worlds. Within the filmic sphere, Insiya is expressive and effortlessly adapts her compositional approach to best suit the screen. Insiya’s ultimate goal with her music, is to enhance and tell stories while connecting with people through her creative work. She is heavily inspired by the music of John Powell, Micheal Giacchino, Alexandre Desplat, and many others who have composed the soundtrack for some of her favourite films films. Such as How to Train Your Dragon, The Imitation Game, Ratatouille, the list can go on!
Insiya has had her works recorded by guitarist Oz Noy, flautist Steve Gorn, the Budapest Art Orchestra and musicians of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Insiya also has an interest in music for visual arts and expression, where in 2018 her composition Arachne’s Web was performed at the Artist in Momentum: Through Glass Gallery Exhibition, as an expression of mental health awareness.
In her spare time Insiya creates short looped animated drawings which are showcased along with her music. This is a series called Little Moon Dreams and can be found on her website.
Insiya holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Western Ontario and is a former student of the Screen Scoring program at New York University (NYU). Currently she is based in Toronto, Canada and is completing her studies at Sheridan in the Music Scoring for Screen and Stage program.
