Maissa is passionate about telling stories from the perspective of being a first-generation Arab-Canadian and shedding light on the misrepresentations of Arabs and Muslims on TV and film.
Intro
Hi, my name is Maissa. I’m a filmmaker and actor. I am half Lebanese, half Syrian. Born in Montreal but have grown up in Ottawa where I currently reside.
I love developing my own content because I get to tell a story from my perspective. Growing up, there weren’t any Arabs on tv and I would like to change that and would also like to break the stereotype they have casted on us.
I am always learning and looking to shadow someone or get mentored.
I am a huge advocate for women in film. Would love to see more opportunities for women especially women of colour.
