Bio

Nicole Stamp is a director, writer, and recovering actor, based in Ontario and willing to travel. She has been nominated for 3 Canadian Screen Awards for directing and writing, and a Writer’s Guild of Canada Award. She has several episodic and feature projects in development and is seeking director-for-hire work on MOWS, features, half-hours, and especially hourlong episodic television. 

DIRECTING CREDITS:
Nicole has directed multiple episodes of THE POPULARITY PAPERS (BBC/YTV), THE NEXT STEP (CBBC) – CSA Nominee for Best Youth Series, THE FABULOUS SHOW (Family Jr.) CSA Nominee for Best Preschool Series and Shaw Rocket Fund Award winner, BLUE’S CLUES (Nickelodeon), TELETUBBIES (Netflix), ODD SQUAD (PBS), LOCKDOWN (YouTube Originals), and 300+ hours of live TV for TVOntario. Nicole started her directing career in LIVE television, with extensive experience directing multi-camera, hosted content, interstitials, lifestyle, red carpet, and aftershows, including projects for for CityTV, Alliance Films, and TIFF.

ACTING BACKGROUND:
Nicole has an instant rapport with actors of all ages. She was a cast member in the CARMILLA genre franchise, a hit queer vampire webseries with over 75 million views on YouTube. he improvised with the Second City’s Canadian National Touring Company and she has appeared on The Handmaid’s Tale (HULU), Locke and Key (NETFLIX), Hudson and Rex (CITYTV) and many more.

SCREENWRITING:
Nicole’s scripts have been nominated for 2 Canadian Screen Awards and a WGC Award. Work includes Lockdown (Sinking Ship), Noonbory (BBC), and THE SNOOPY SHOW (APPLE TV).

Intro

 Nicole Stamp infuses all of her work with a strong equity lens – she has worked as a professional equity consultant in children’s media for clients including Nickelodeon, and her essays on race, gender, sexuality, and consent have been published by CNN.

She’s known for quick dialogue, elegant blocking allowing for efficient camera setups, and especially in helping actors unlock heartfelt, authentic performances. Many actors she’s directed have commented that they felt their career-best performances were under Nicole’s direction (including performances that won Canadian Screen Awards and an Emmy). Nicole brings her well-rounded background in science, dance, music, education, classical theatre, improv, and comedy to her work.
