GTA-based Filipino director, Paula Ner Dormiendo, whose works in narrative and documentary film have continuously been inspired by and explore cultural identity and community in all forms through an intimate and unguarded lens. Her first documentary film, On the Fence, won best short film at OFFA and CineFam, was broadcasted on national television through CBC’s Reel Shorts Program, and was nominated at NFFTY, Reelworld, and WIFT’s 2021 Showcase. She has also worked for organizations such as PRIDE Toronto, APTN, and Bell Media, and their notable networks like Much Music, CTV, and Discovery Channel. She is currently a creator under the Canon FUTURES Program led by acclaimed Canon ambassadors in their respective fields, Ajani Charles, Justin Wu, Nadya Kwandibens, and Ben Hagarty. Also, a recent graduate of Sheridan College’s Honors Bachelor of Film and Television Program, Paula is excited to contribute to the growing voices of BIPOC womxn, demanding gender and racial parity within the film and television industry.
