Bio
Rahul Chaturvedi is an Indian-Canadian filmmaker who likes to use comedy to highlight the issues of underrepresented groups, with a special focus on diaspora stories. He studied filmmaking at George Brown College and has been highlighted in the media as an exciting new voice in film.
His short film Forbidden Tikka Masala won 7 international awards and is currently part of Toronto International Film Festival’s TIFF Film Circuit and Reel Comfort programmes. Rahul was a Reel Asian Pitch competition winner in 2016 and 2018, was chosen as one of Reelworld festival’s Emerging filmmakers for 2017, and his work has been supported by the Ontario Arts Council (OAC).
Rahul is currently developing his feature film project, ‘Namaste, Santa,’ which has been selected by Reelworld festival as their entry for the 2020 Telefilm Talent to Watch program. He is also part of the BIPOC Kids TV Writing Bootcamp where he is developing a show that teaches computer programming to Kids 4-7.
Rahul has a Masters’ degree in Computer Science and spent a decade working in finance and cybersecurity before making the decision to pursue filmmaking full-time.
