Bio

Simone Swaby is a Jamaican-Canadian filmmaker from Toronto, Canada. She has been enamoured with the power of images and storytelling from a young age. She started taking creative writing and filmmaking courses in middle school and hasn’t stopped learning since. Simone is a recent graduate of York University’s film production program, during which she specialized in production management and picture editing. She worked on various sets throughout her education as a production designer, production manager, editor and more. She firmly believes in the importance of having an understanding of the variety of elements and disciplines that must work together in order to produce well-made films. Simone aspires to produce visually rich and socially relevant films that highlight the stories of BIPOC and LGBTQ2A+ communities and has gained a particular interest in genre filmmaking. Her first film, CANDYLAND is a psychological thriller that was a semi-finalist at Toronto’s Alternative Film Festival. She is currently the coordinator at Fae Pictures Inc.
