Bio

Andrés Galindo Arteaga is a Colombian-Canadian screen composer whose music bridges folkloric acoustic traditions with contemporary electronic synthesis. Based in Toronto, he is a CASMA Award and five-time SOCAN Foundation Award winner recognized for his evocative and textural approach to scoring for film and television.

His recent work includes the CASMA-winning score for the television movie Trapped in the Spotlight (Lifetime), as well as scores for Ray of Hope (CBC Gem), Two Brothers (OUTtv), and the opening theme for Secrets in the Ice (Sky History). His compositions have been featured across major networks including Lifetime, CBC Gem, Bell Media, and OUTtv, and have premiered at festivals such as CaribbeanTales, T.O. Webfest, Blood in the Snow, and iSAFF. His score for Acid Wash debuted at TIFF Bell Lightbox and was showcased in TIFF’s Short Film, Big Ideas: Community Impact program.

Selected for the SOCAN Labs Scoring Retreat, Andrés was mentored by CSA winner Rich Williamson (Scarborough, TIFF) and Steph Copeland (The Oak Room, Vicious Fun). He has also collaborated with prominent composers including Gemini and Mark Korven (The Lighthouse, The Witch, The Black Phone).

Andrés has shared his expertise as a guest speaker at the Canadian Film Centre, Canadian Musicians Co-op, The HOOK sync group, and the Musical Conservatory of Ibagué in Colombia. Supported by the National Screen Institute, Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, and FACTOR, he continues to craft emotionally resonant, hybrid soundscapes that bring cinematic depth to film, television, and conceptual works alike.
